It has been bitter times recently... counting a few weeks back recently. Things have been popping up and down and it's been like that; including my hard drive which totally crashed with the diagnosis of "CLICK OF DEATH." How exciting. I lost a lot of stuff and I can only say that BACKING UP would have saved me. So listen to the wise -- me, haha -- and BACK UP YOUR FILES !!
I came across a fantastic brand called Loomstate located in NYC but also available worldwide through their online shop. It's special for everything is made out of certified organic cotton using SOCIALLY & ENVIRONMENTALLY responsible production !!!! They fully supervise the factories and manufacturers they get their beautiful clothes produced !
Founded in 2004 by designers Rogoan Gregory and Scott Mackinlay Hahn, their collections are just pure casual classics. They claim to have "washed and softened fabrics to tumble and aged hardware" which truly rings through when you browse through the pieces. Now they have many special projects such as Zero Waste which is done with a prof for Fashion Design and Sustainability from Parsons The New School for Design !!! I actually came across Zero Waste first (on Twitter, of course) and then travelled to Loomstate ! Zero Waste's limited design is a beautiful anorak that goes for $345 and only pre-order through online and will ship November 17 - November 21 2011. It comes in an organic dark ish grey and has this high collar which calls for NECK & CHIN WINDSHIELD WOO HOO !!!!! Since I've been working at JNBY, I found new appreciation on neutral tone colours and sustainable and high-quality materials. This anorak is 100% wool and it sure looks like it will keep you 100% warm & stylish !!
Loomstate has both MENS & WOMENS collections along with accessories and more special projects. Here are some of my favourites from both Mens & Womens collections that they have; I especially love their "Classics" line, and it's phenomenal how they can make sustainable DENIM !!!! I'm so impressed, hahaha :') :')

Just finished two days ago, it still rings through. It's such a sweet, short read that I just want to force it upon everyone I meet. Russian literature has a peculiar effect; the emotions are so raw and real yet there are so many embellishments that it's almost a fantastical journey. Hmmm. Other than that, this book made me want to go to the roulette table and bet my ass off with whatever money I have.. like $100 and then strike rich and make it $50942958730984713. WOW. But that's not how it is, gambling ruins you it says... well to the outside world. But the thing is with all addictions, it can ruin you in terms of societal values but on personal values, that specific addiction is life and you need it and you crave it and once you have it, it's the best thing ever and you feel invincible !!!!!!!!!! Good read anyways. Lots of random French here and there and perfectly crisp racist remarks all the way through. Way to go Dostoyevsky !
THE VIRGIN SUICIDES -- the film
Sofia Coppola is a weird obsession, almost as much as Wes Anderson but maybe even MORE. Because she speaks SO MUCH through her slowness. It's almost watching super old flicks that are bordering on boring you til death but you never get bored enough to fast forward because maybe the soundtrack is too good and you feel bad to fast forward. But wait, I said ALMOST because that is never the case with Sofia Coppola. She has SUCH an aesthetic appeal in every scene she does and it should come hard and she should be putting in too much effort for it, but she carries it EFFORTLESSLY. As if like it's the most normal thing to be ethereal. She's a true girl. True morbid girl. I like that. She likes flowers as much as death and she likes sexualizing (is that even a word !?) young girls as much as showcasing their complex nature to the world. From her debut flick here, The Virgin Suicides (actually first a novel by Jeffrey Eugenides), to Oscar winning Marie Antoinette, to her recent film, Somewhere. AHHHHH I LOVE THEM ALLLLLLL. AHHHHH.

This one, unlike the other ones, had killer plot. Probs because it was adapted from a book. The mystery of the Lisbon sisters and the fact that nothing was solved in the end really epitomizes adolescence. Can you even imagine having four sisters going through high school together ? I think that itself is a huge burden that noone else would understand. No matter how well you'd be getting along with your sisters, the complexity of relationships and thinking through people would be exponentially enhanced !!! AHHHH. Anyhow, go watch it if you haven't. Kirsten Dunst is at her finest, and OMG Josh Hartnett... I had no idea he was such a HEARTTHROB A;OIHG;ELAMKFD;HF !!!!!!!

BAND OF OUTSIDERS For me, this collection was just pure beauty, HANDS DOWN. With the straw hats (that seems to repeat in Erdem if you scroll down) and the death-like girls. The make-up on them.. bronzed/blushed cheeks + school uniforms.. WOW ! Say hello to SADISTIC SCHOOL GIRLS !!! This collection showed way less colour than other NYFW shows that were full of brights, pastels, glitter, and prints ! Though this did end in floral, flowy stuff -- as if to make the "grand" girly finale.
ERDEM Erdem Moraliogu woos me with every one of his collections. This time around, it was the HATS and the MATCHING SHADES; both made out of lace !!!!! This is when I die then come back alive. Erdem was also all about bringing the girly sophistication into granny style that can be worn on the red carpet. Pastels + prints can't go wrong this coming spring.
CHRISTOPHER KANE As I was watching this, my friend Jinjoo said that the clothes were like "origami." Perfect description, eh ? And as Vogue.com puts it.. it's "algebraic lines." Notes for trend is GLITTER !!!!!!! and the sixties-like modernity/futurism. I found that the sandals reminded me of Acne's sandals from few seasons ago and the prints were all VERY CHRISTOPHER KANE. LOVING the BOLD SLITS everywhere !!!!!!!!
DEREK LAM --fuck short skirts now and go for at least a knee-length ! --collar action ! --liking the little bits of snake especially in the bag ! --OMG, stripes on stripes !??!!? This is like my fav everyday-wear !!! --all leather dress is made cute by using a tiny clutch !
