Return

Today I return with some peace on my mind and with "chutzpah" around all the dull corners of my mentality and life. However insecure that may sound, I am the most confident about myself and my surrounding environment right now. I can't articulate how satisfied I am at the moment into words, because there seems to be absolutely no thin ice under me. Am I grounded? Is this growing up and knowing yourself? Or is this an alternate reality that grown-ups make for themselves so that they can call themselves grown up?

Let us end with the word games and believe in emotional intelligence.

I have had the most wonderful past few days filled with Netflix, friends, good coffee, drinks, IM messages, Snapchat, Korean food, company, never-ending assignments, and even some reading. The sun had graced the people of Vancouver to its almighty beauty and happiness for a few days before letting the rain fall to freshen up the city. The cherry blossoms are all dead on the sidewalk and make me feel good to be born human-can you believe being born as a cherry fucking blossom? Never. One will have a lifespan of at maximum one week, weather permitting. Ugh. But coming back on point, I'm basically laying the grounds on the good days I've had. Ergo, I'm blogging again. This summer, I have a feeling that I will take up on some personal challenges all revolving around the central theme of REGULARITY. Making some DAILY PATTERNS. Having a REGULAR lifestyle. Y'know like waking up at a certain time and keeping up with the blog, giving some love to the regular people, texting mommy a nice text at 2 pm when she's just chilling on Facebook, attempting to work out for 15 minutes... Stuff like that...

This was further enforced by myself unto myself after watching Bill Cunningham New York.

REFLECTION POINTS:
a) I need to go to NYC.
b) I need to be like this guy - I need to have one look, ride my bike, become really old, be a walking encyclopedia about one topic, do not give a fuck about money, and go to church every Sunday.

Whatever that Bill Cunningham has NEVER conveyed to the public gets communicated in this short documentary. Wonderfully edited with past and current clips, holistically respectful to Bill, and finally with great emphasis on NYC, the city itself, is amazing. It is only about 90 min long, which makes it just a nap-replacer. I cried a lot since Bill is going to go sometime soon and his absence will inevitably create a void.

Anyways, I have a long way to go until I can be a sophisticated lady, yet a New Yorker. So I guess I'll just keep tumbling around and grow some branches. From those arms, I'll fixate on a few things and lay down some roots. And then I will become a cherry blossom tree and flutter my life away within a week.

Life is wheezing by and I am an outsider.
Actually, let me rephrase that.

I'M A FOOKEN NOOB.

Seoul's very big and big and busy and did I say big?
Seoul is familiar yet unfamiliar.

The thing is, I can't formally formulate this... uncomfortable feeling of not knowing... a lot of the ins & outs. I know Vancouver as if it's the palm of my hand (I know the city's size is VASTLY different) but I know Vancouver's insides, too, you know? I'm confident.

Here I flounder through buildings, people, signs, cigarette smoke, dirty air, systems, structure, unknown language, and mannerisms in a tired state. I'm grateful for all the things I flounder through. But why do I have to do this alone and... in a tired state. I hate that word, TIRED. So I keep myself up high with my mentality just floating up there. But the comfort ain't here. Not in my body and not here. Not yet.

Having time

I now have so much time lying around that I can afford to take a quick few shots of myself (EW, HOW NARCISSTIC) before I leave the house.

Them black shorts that I've been wearing basically every sunny day this past summer was a DIY impulse project. I was lucky that they turned out alright. I just folded the sides up and pinned them after chopping the legs off... Idk how to sew. When my mom saw them, she almost cried. They used to be her treasured Versace jeans. Oops. #BadDaughter

Then later in the day, we hit up THE TEMPLETON on Granville Street for some dindins. YUUUUUMMY VEGAN FOODS!! Ahhhhhh!! Diner deco!!! AHHHHHHH, crushin' hard.

Them black headband is just a piece of elastic-y fabric. You can basically wind ANYTHING around your head, twist it, then brooch it! You'll have the headband you want for the day. Since all of your face is visible, you MUST put a little bit of effort on your face. So I even put colour on my lips and lined my brows all dark and all. Okay, if you massively failed at putting nice makeup on your face, you can always cover yer face with sunglasses. GOOD! THAT'S WHAT I DID.

I cut my hair chop chop

If the post title ain't literal enough... I went into Aveda Tonic on South Granville (great salon btw!!!!) to chop chop my hair off. Initially I just wanted to chop my bangs off, but somehow my hair dude Jovica ended up just chopping errthing off. Whatever! Now it feels like I have no more hair left! It's so thin that it barely makes a bun... Can you believe it!? I was also wearing a sheer sweater that day and my bare nipples underneath it were magnificently covered by my long flowy hair but after the cut, they were visible.

These days

Fooling around (LOLOL about this photo editing app) in Shangri La. Not impressed with their highballs but impressed with their virgin drinks !!! Justin had brought me to the lounge in Hotel Georgia that served amazing gin cocktails -- MUST RETURN.

And work. Amber the great dane visited for a full day. I had to deal with this dog for almost 8 hours. I now like dogs. Yes. .........

Japan Keepsakes

I learned some new outfit things to think about whilst browsing Dropsnap the last few days.

EXHIBIT A
From these girls, we learn that we MUST INVEST IN A PAIR OF COLOURFUL WILD PRINTED TIGHTS. Prints to GO FOR: butterflies, dull pastels, VERTICAL lines. Prints to AVOID: florals (they are so... OVER) and neon brights (just no).

They also teach us that for ladies, spring make up is KEY to becoming cute. Whether you have cheekbones or not, BLUSH IT OUUUUTTTTTT.

EXHIBIT B
From this random girl from the streets of Tokyo, we learn that WHITE PLATFORMS are SOOOO FRESH. I want a pair for the sun life..... Please. Black platforms are so... DONE AND OVER WITH. I HAVE SO MANY PAIRS ANYWAYS. I want white platforms. Do I just spray paint my black ones white !??!!!?!?!? Also, natural colored hair is USELESS. Hahahaha.

Now this band is far from Japanese... t.A.T.u. was a Russian girl group... I hear they were a lesbian girl groiup ?? Sth like that.. But interesting how I found out about them was through the Swedes. The Swedes, you would think would only listen to Swedish music since there's SO MUCH GOOD SWEDISH music out there ! Think Lykke Li, Peter, Bjorn, and John, and Husky Rescue. But anyways, t.A.T.u. keeps singing GOMENASAI throughout the song, befitting since that word is the song title... it means SORRY in Japanese. LOL.

EXHIBIT C
Again, check out the blush action. I will go home tonight and blush my cheeks out to get the similar effects. If it works, I'll take a picture. If it doesn't (which is most likely... Sadly...) then I will just get depressed and write a poem, yeah ?
Also from this girl, we learn that BLUE HAIR RULES. Must get my hands on that Manic Panic... but also the belt. Her outfit is pretty hideous in my opinion, but the belt just makes it look real nice and put together. Can all belts do this ? NO !! ONLY GET BELTS WITH A MIDDLE BUCKLE PIECE. Get a black and gold one for simple VINTAGE look that you can carry out all four seasons. Get a COLOURED or TEXTURIZED one for the winter (hint: Burberry Prorsum fw 2013, photo below !)

Okay, yeah, I found more new music that I'm absolutely in love with. I will post about that later. I need to go work on Korean radio now. My show, KOREA WEST (K-WEST) LAUNCHES THIS COMING MONDAY..... THREE DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!! Lots to do.. Pretty stoked though !! Oh and I was just at ZULU RECORDS on 4th Avenue.. it's their ANNUAL RECORD STORE DAY !!! CH-CH-CH-CHECK IT OUTTT for they are open til 930PM TONIGHT (WITH SHOWS IN THE EVENING !!!) !! Killer salezzzz.

This has been the mobile life + blonde obsession ft. MK coming out of a destressing (!?) shopping spree from Barneys New York and YOUNG !!!!!!!! DEVON AOKI !! Also a Japanese street style gurrrrrrl. Lovin' the yarn-ish jacket.

Life before it got boring.

RIGHT NOW. Life is boring. All I look forward to are readings that I am behind on and my beautiful bed. I wish to wash my pillowcase because there are black marks everywhere.... Mascara + eyeliner. OMG. It's killing me. But I don't have the time, so I will get around to it this weekend. Stoked to kill off the items off my to-do list.


At work @ JNBY. Sample sale is going on ! Come and ask the associates to book an appointment !!!! It's gonna be killer. 2623 Granville Street is the address, between 10th Avenue and 11th Ave. Sweeeeet. During a down time, we tried on pieces in all these different ways; it's pretty sick. However, my BlackBerry is on its death spiral right now... and isn't functioning at its prime. SIGH. So here is the question: android or iPhone 5 ?!?!!!???!?

Bored at work. I haven't been drawing a lot these days due to lack of time and me reading (fiction, of course) when there is spare time. So I think I lost all my pen holding skills. Sad, but this is one of my terrible doodles that I produce at JNBY. I need lessons. I want to be at LFW. I know it's a bit off-topic, but it's true.

BUNTZEN LAKE !!!!!!!!!! It was like crossing the border. It was a long, hot wait rewarded by gin + whatever. Then the makguli I wanted to try so badly + some amazing food called MOOK (묵). 오마이갓. My Korean people are seriously the best, *__*v
